Ding ding ding….you got it with the your last answer…..so much money is being spent on “the war on terror” and other political crap that could be being spent on national health care. H. Clinton (and others) have some really good ideas on universal healthcare….you should check them out.
How many Americans do you know that would want to pay money when they are healthy?
“Free health insurance” or “free health care” would be paid with higher taxes or payments (like regular health insurance), so it would be nowhere near “free” to everyone, although some lower income families may get a subsidy for it to make it cheap or free for them (theoretically, but that just means other people would pay for those that can’t afford it).
Aside from that, the American culture is too self-centered… people that make a lot of money wouldn’t want to think that people who hardly make any money (or are unemployed) get the same benefits as they do.
Doctors can charge more when they are “on demand” (like an emergency situation, ambulance services, etc)… plus, it works well for our instant gratification aspects that our society loves so much.
If that’s not enough, you could look at some of the other countries that offer it. Canada has what seems like an ideal setup for health care…. until you need an appointment. It can take several months to see a doctor, and even a few days or weeks to go to the “Emergency Room” (which is why numerous Canadians that need serious attention come to America and pay the extra money to get help right away).
There are a lot of reasons that have happened over time…. this is the one that most people (that have the votes and voices) like the most for our capitalist society.
The health insurance industry is so big and there is alot of money to be made!!! So with that being said the Health insurance companies do not want it because they will loose alot of money billions!!!!
They can deny a claim for any reason they want and people who deny these claims are usually not trained health care professionals they are business people. They need to do what is good for the business not what is good for the person. So imagine these companies loosing all that money power and people loosing their jobs…Wont happen not in this country the dam president vetoed a bill that would have given millions of children coverage who can not afford it!!!

“Free” health insurance, like “free” anything else, doesn’t exist. You’re paying for it one way or another; higher taxes, low-quality medical care, etc. Michael Moore made a very misleading movie about this, where he showed a hospital in Cuba that gave “free” care to Cubans. He later admitted that they knew he was coming, rolled out the red carpet, and showed him their absolute best. Interviews of actual Cuban citizens, made by other journalists, indicated that what Michael Moore showed in his film was not factual, and that the majority of the Cuban hospitals are substandard, as is the medical care. Later in the movie, if you’re REAL quick, you’ll see that the World Health Organization actually ranked America’s health care higher than Cuba’s. You have to be real quick, and hit the “rewind” button on your remote, but you’ll see it.
Recently, Americans were surveyed about this, and 51% of them do not want “free:” health care. Think about that. You’re giving something away for free – if half of Americans don’t want something free, there has to be something very wrong with it.
americans do not have free health care because of the incredible power that is yeilded by special interest groups in this country. the AMA (american medical association) is one of the strongest unions in the country next to may-be major leage baseball players association. The doctors dont want government sponsered health insurance b/c the govt. isent going to pay the outragous rates the doctors can bill your insurance company. That is the real reason we dont have health insurance. Politians are slaves to money and they will do what it takes to continue to get elected and reelected unfortunalty that takes lots and lots of money. Money they get from special interest groups. By the way Obama is not taking money from special interest groups!
