Best health insurance if you have to pay out of pocket?

In the near future I may be taking on a job that does not offer health insurance so I will have to pay out of pocket. I am 26 years old, married (although my husband has his own insurance – too expensive for me to join), and on ortho evra birth control patch (not sure which tier this is on). What insurance is most affordable or best to go with? I don’t want to pay too much per month but want to make sure I am covered. Thanks!

Once you start shopping around for personal insurance, you will quickly realize that your husband’s “expensive” plan may not be so expensive after all.

Group health insurance is ALWAYS a better deal when you compare apples to apples. Other drawbacks to personal health insurance are:

    – disqualification of coverage if you have any pre-existing conditions
    – no maternity coverage (you will pay a hefty sum to add maternity)
    – long list of excluded services

Be careful about handing out your personal medical history when shopping around for personal insurance. This information will get shared with the prospective insurance company. Better to talk to an independent insurance agent you trust.

There will be no getting around the fact that, no matter how you slice it, there will be no “cheap” solution.

It is important to know that the duration of the insurance is cheaper than coverage. This will help you quickly want to buy cheaper one of the affordable health insurance.
