I know several married couples where they have two different insurance policies through each of their employers, and they get to pick and choose which one to use. I don’t have a spouse. I know several people who are alcoholics who have an HMO through their retirement and they are in the hospital every other month, simply because they have over drank. They run to the doctor every two months for very trivial things/ I know of several who abuse the veterans hospital from runny noses to a simple headache, plus they are paid monthly for a disabilty they don’t have. They just don’t want to work.
I think married couples should only be able to use one insurance policy, and these others should be only allowed to go to the doctor a few times a year. If they are an alcoholic send them to AA.

I’m guessing it could be hard to find a private health insurance company that will offer you coverage with reasonable premium rates if you have a terminal illness.
I don’t know where you live but maybe you could try applying for state medical assistance which, if you qualify based on your income/assets/age/health condition, may help pay for medical bills until you find something else.
You can get health insurance either through the high risk pool of your state or through a company that does business in your state. That will vary from one state to another. Find a knowledgeable independent agent in your area that is familiar with the state & federal laws where you reside.

The answer to your question – through a local, independent agent. They will know who would be willing to write you in your area, and who has providers in your area. DO NOT be scammed by a “health discount” plan, which is not insurance.
Don’t expect a private health insurance policy to pick up ANYTHING for pre-existing conditions. Your best bet for coverage for preexisting conditions, is to find a new job with health insurance. You’ll probably have to wait 18 months to have the preexistings covered, but I think it would be worth it.
Here is an excellent site with some wonderful options 4 U.
If you pick up an individual plan .. they won’t pay for pre-existing conditions for a certain timeframe. With many larger employers.. this pre-existing clause is waived.. you, or your spouse need to find a job with a large company that has this pre-existing waiver to get your health care covered.
