Will I still have health insurance in a community college?

If I leave a 4 year university to become a student in an online degree program, will I still be covered under my parent’s health insurance?
I am 19.

In most health plans, as long as you are a full-time student, then you are still covered. But check with them, to make very sure. The time you want to find that out is BEFORE you need it!

Generally yes, if you are in college, you probably will still qualify for your parents insurance. But you may also want to check out health insurance programs that are written through your school. United Healthcare has a plan available at many US schools. These student injury and illness plans provide wide ranging coverage and are designed to be affordable for college students. To check if your school is participating, go to and enter your school name in the search box. You might also be interested in joining the American College Student Association (ACSA), a national organization for college students. They have lots of member benefits, including student health insurance. Their membership fee is affordable.
